What is Dream Coat for Curly Hair?
Color Wow Dream Coat for Curly Hair is a unique cutting-edge spray designed specifically for curly, wavy, and textured hair. Unlike heavy creams or gels, this lightweight formula claims to enhance your natural curl pattern, eliminate frizz, and give your curls long-lasting hydration without weighing them down. It’s essentially an all-in-one curl saviour, eliminating the need for multiple products.
The real magic lies in its humidity-resistant polymers that form an invisible waterproof veil over each strand. It boasts the following standout claims on the bottle:
- Curl Activation: Enhances the natural curl pattern without heat.
- Frizz Control: Tames frizz even in challenging humidity.
- Long-Lasting: Flexible hold and shine that lasts up to three days.
Dream Coat’s mission? To give you defined, silky, shiny curls… no matter what the weather throws at you.
Here’s what I like about Dream Coat for Curly Hair
The Pros of Dream Coat for Curly Hair
I’ll start with what I loved about this product, and trust me, there’s a lot to like.
1. Lightweight and Non-Sticky
Unlike heavier curl products that can sometimes feel gloopy or greasy, Dream Coat has a feather-light spray consistency that’s easy to distribute through your hair without build-up. It’s brilliant if you’re looking for a “less is more” approach to curly hair styling.
2. Frizz? Cancelled.
Humidity is the arch-nemesis of curls, and Dream Coat lives up to its promise to fight frizz. Even in London mist, my curls miraculously stayed manageable. Think soft, controlled curls instead of puffball frizz.
3. Defined, Flexible Curls
This is not a product for stiff, crunchy hair. What I loved most was how soft yet defined my curls looked. Dream Coat lets your natural curl pattern shine without making it feel like you’ve styled your hair with glue (you know the type).
4. Time Saver
Dream Coat cuts out the need for layering multiple products—no more creams followed by gels followed by oils. A few sprays, and you’re good to go. For busy mornings or lazy wash days, it’s a serious game-changer.
Here’s what I don’t like
1. Not for Day-Two Hair Lovers
Dream Coat is marketed as long-lasting, but I noticed that by day two, my curls lost a bit of definition and needed a refresh. This isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker (most of us refresh our curls anyway!), but it’s worth noting if you were hoping for a super low-maintenance solution.
2. The Price Point
At around £25 a bottle, Dream Coat isn’t the cheapest option out there. While a little goes a long way, the price may feel steep if you’re on a budget or have very thick hair that requires more product.
Curly Girl Method Approved?
Yes it is!
My priorities have changed. My goal for the first 2 years of my curly/wavy journey was to have the most defined texture possible. Any product that promised definition was ok by me.
While I still strive for defined, bouncy curls, I now also want something else from my products. Something that goes against the very nature of a product that goes onto your hair; I don’t want to feel them, at all.
As a spray, Color Wow Dream Coat for Curly Hair seemed like a dream product, indeed. It is even sold as a ‘miracle moisture mist‘. It promises to be a one-step solution that will replace all other curly hair products (gels, creams, etc.) to provide crunch-free, grease-free, moisturised curls.
Wow, indeed.

How to use it
Color Wow Dream Coat for Curly Hair should be sprayed liberally on wet, but not soaking, towel-dried hair. Then air-dry or diffuse. Job done.
Who is it for?
Dream Coat is perfect for curlies who want a lightweight, no-fuss product for control and definition. It’s especially ideal for those with looser curl patterns (2B-3B) or anyone who struggles with frizz.
The results
This product defined my wavy curls really well. I applied it liberally because (as per the instructions) it was the only product that I used.
My hair dried quickly and I enjoyed the fact that I didn’t have to have to wait for a cast to form (or scrunch one away!)
The best thing of all? I couldn’t feel any product in my hair! Bingo.
It is lightweight as promised.
Is it worth buying?
I would say yes. I’m pretty sure Dream Coat for Curly Hair will become one of my staple products. The ease of use makes it a great option, and who doesn’t want to use a single product to moisturise and style their hair?!
The downside is with regards to refreshing. This might be unfair, but due to the fact that this product comes as a spray, I assumed it could be used as a refresh. Not so much. It had very little effect when sprayed onto my dry hair. Not a problem or a reason not to buy, just something to be aware of.
Overall, this gets a yes from me.
