If you’re a fan of Curlsmith products, you’re going to love their bond curl rehab salve!
Curls can be dry and frizzy, and they can be difficult to style. That’s where Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve comes in.
The Bond Curl Rehab Salve is part of Curlsmith’s ‘Strength’ range. This range is enriched with protein alongside the moisturising ingredients that are found right across the Curlsmith range.
This product is designed to help repair damaged curls and keep them looking healthy and shiny. I tried it out and here’s my review.
What does Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve do?
The Salve isn’t just your average mask. It specifically targets bonds that are broken within the hair due to external stresses.
Broken bonds lead to weakened hair that is much more vulnerable to damage.
Key active ingredients
A look at the ingredients of the Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve reveals a long list of natural oils and extracts. Overall, it seems to be packed with healthy ingredients that can do a lot of good for your hair.
Chia seed extract – chia proteins target and strengthen bonds within the hair’s structure
Prickly Pear Fruit Extract – rich in fatty acids, protein and vitamin E
Sweet Almond Oil – rich in vitamin E, it strengthens and softens
Free from sulphates, parabens, silicones, mineral oils and phthalates (Curly Girl Method Approved).
As an additional note – this product doesn’t contain shea butter. I know that some people have allergies to shea butter and others simply find it too heavy, leaving their hair weighed down.
How do I know if Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve will benefit my hair?
All hair types will benefit from a protein boost!
How much protein your hair needs is determined by how damaged your hair is, and your porosity level will be a good indicator of this.
High porosity hair will generally need more protein than low porosity hair, but all hair types will benefit. Curlsmith recommends using this treatment in the following way:
Low porosity hair – apply for 15 minutes every 4-5 washes
Medium porosity hair – apply for 20 minutes every 3-4 washes
High porosity hair – apply for 30 minutes every 2-3 washes
My review
The first thing we noticed about this product is the scent. It has a very strong sweet citrusy smell.
It does require a little commitment. This treatment is applied to damp hair before you wash so it’s worth setting aside a little extra time.
It has great slip and it was easy to use and coat all of my hair. I left the treatment on damp hair for 30 minutes (high porosity hair).
After I washed my hair, I used Curlsmith’s Feather-Light Protein Cream to style.
I was impressed with the results!
My hair felt soft and bouncy and my curls held well afterwards. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone struggling with dry hair that feels lifeless.
How to use the treatment
- Wet your hair and then remove some of the excess water so your hair is damp
- Apply Bond Curl Rehab Salve all over your hair, roots to ends
- Leave the treatment for between 15 and 30 minutes (see guide above)
- Use shampoo and conditioner and style as usual.
Conclusion
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with curly hair. It’s a great way to keep your curls looking and feeling their best.
